Wildschoenau, Tirol, municipality in the district of Kufstein, alt. 
936 m, pop. 3,639, area 97.40 km%%sup 2/%, bi-seasonal 
tourist resort (943,121 overnight stays in 1992) in the Wildschoenauer 
Ache valley on the edge of the Kitzbuehel Alps, near the Kundler Klamm 
Gorge. - Wildschoenau adventure mine, Schatzbergbahn cableway. - 
Villages parts include  Oberau, Niederau with parish church 
(late-Gothic core, altered in Baroque style in 1740, extended by C. 
Holzmeister in 1970), Auffach with parish church (1800/1801 by A. 
Hueber), Thierbach with late-Baroque parish church; Einhof types of 
farmstead in log construction.
