b. Vienna, Aug. 30, 1923, composer, conductor. Conductor at the 
Salzburg Landestheater from 1948-1951; 1953-1981 head of the theatre's 
conductors and 1968-1991 head of a composition class at the Salzburg 
"Mozarteum" College of Music; member of the management of the Salzburg 
Festival from 1971-1991; 1990-1998 president of the National Society 
of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers ( AKM). Austrian State 
Prize for Music in 1967.
