!!!Windisch-Graetz, Adelsgeschlecht

Windisch-Graetz, Styrian noble family, first documented mention around 
1220, ancestral castle Slovenj Gradec (today in Slovenia, German: 
Windischgraetz). Became Princes of the Empire in 1804 and were granted 
the Austrian prince's title in 1822. In the 19%%sup th/%  century, the 
majority of the family members were army officers. Two thirds of their 
enormous real property in Slovenia and Bohemia was lost after 1918 and 
the rest after 1945. Well-known members of the family include: Count 
Pankraz  Windisch-Graetz, Prince Alfred (I) of  Windisch-Graetz, 
Prince Alfred (III) of  Windisch-Graetz, Franz  Windisch-Graetz.
