Winklarn, Lower Austria, municipality in the district of Amstetten, 
alt. 291 m, pop. 1,347, area 12.60 km%%sup 2/%, in the Ybbstal 
valley near Amstetten. - Wood processing (wooden shoes, joiners), 
coarse gravel works. - One of the oldest parishes in western Lower 
Austria, first documented mention by Ludwig der Deutsche as "Ipusa" in 
837 as part of a donation. Late-Gothic parish church with Romanesque 
core, several phases of Gothic alterations, Baroque interior (around 
1750); Bronze Age and Roman finds as well as finds from a Slavonic 
settlement.
