b. Vienna, Sept. 1, 1895, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 4, 1959, sociologist and politician (member of the 
Fatherland Front). In his function as 3rd Deputy-Mayor of Vienna 
(1934-1936), was supposed to pacify social-democratic working class 
groups, but was forced to resign in 1936; emigrated to the USA via 
Switzerland in 1938; returned to Austria in 1955; could not establish 
himself as a university lecturer.
