b. Josefov, Czech Republic (then Josefstadt), March 1, 1834, 
d. Vienna, Feb. 22, 1917, physician, Professor at the University of 
Vienna. Made hydrotherapy a scientifically acknowledged medical 
treatment; founded a hydrotherapeutic centre at Kaltenleutgeben near 
Vienna in 1865 as well as the first hydrotherapeutic clinic.
