b. Wiener Neustadt (Lower Austria), March 8, 1957, lawyer and 
politician with the Social Democratic Party (SPOe). Graduated in law 
from Vienna University in 1980 and then worked as a lawyer. 1981-1982 
in China, 1990-1993 deputy mayor of Wiener Neustadt. 1993-1997, Mayor 
of Wiener Neustadt; 1997-2000 Secretary of State for Arts, European 
Affairs and Sports in the Federal Chancellery, since 2000 member of 
the Nationalrat.
