Wolfurt, Vorarlberg, market town in the district of Bregenz, alt. 
434 m, pop. 7,289, area 10.01 km%%sup 2/%, south of Bregenz 
on the River Bregenzerach. - Customs post, consulate of the Republic 
of Finland, Nurses of the Holy Cross, gymnasium, Familienhilfe 
charity, Lebenshilfe charity (association engaged in 
life-counselling), home for senior citizens, Cubus club house, 
waterworks; 3,622 persons in gainful employment (1991); 69% work in 
the service sector, especially transport (goods station, forwarding 
agents) and trade, machine-building industry (especially cableways and 
lifts) and packaging industry (cardboard products). - Classicist 
parish church (consecrated 1849); Wolfurt Castle (first documented 
mention 1217/1226, several alterations, reconstructed 1940/41 after a 
fire).
