Tattoo, start of night rest for soldiers in military quarters, often 
signalled with a military wind instrument (mostly a trumpet). The 
origin of this term is not clear. In the Austrian Federal Armed Forces 
the grand tattoo has been performed as a military evening devotion in 
a musical setting since 1955.
