b. Vienna, July 20, 1955, manager in the broadcasting business. He had 
worked as secretary-general under director-general T.  Podgorski and 
as executive director of the German broadcasting companies Tele 5 
(1991/92) and RTL 2 (1992-1994); 1994-1998 was, after G.  Bacher, 
director-general of the Austrian broadcasting corporation  ORF; since 
1998 managing director.
