Zeilinger, Anton, b. Ried im Innkreis (Upper Austria), 
May 20, 1945, physicist. Studied and pursued his career in 
Vienna; 1990-1999 university professor of experimental physics in 
Innsbruck and since 1999 in Vienna; visiting professor at numerous 
universities abroad. 1997 presented the first experimental 
verification of quantum teleportation. Member of the Prussian Order 
Pour le Merite; awarded the Austrian Decoration for Science and Art in 
2001.
