!!!Zeiselwagen

Zeiselwagen, simple farmer's rack wagon drawn by one horse (first
documented mention 1744) with wooden boards as seats placed between
the side walls, sometimes roofed over with reed mats; the first mass
means of transportation in Vienna for short and long-distance traffic,
especially for pleasure trips into the suburbs and the surroundings of
Vienna (Linienzeisel (line zeisel), "LZ"); the carriages were not
allowed to operate in the city proper. Separate licences were issued
for the "Klein- und Zeiselfuhrwerk" (small and zeisel horse-drawn
vehicles). They were replaced by overland coaches and omnibuses in the
19%%sup th/% century.
