d. Linz (Upper Austria), Oct. 29, 1971, Christian-conservative writer, 
teacher in Linz. Regarded himself as a successor of A.  Stifter, deals 
in his historical novel "Der Kronerbe" (1953) with the "natural law" 
of human existence. Stifter Prize in 1965.
