b. Lech am Arlberg (Vorarlberg), Feb. 8, 1939, racing skier and hotel 
owner in Lech. Won the downhill races at Kitzbuehel and Wengen; won 
the gold medal in giant slalom and the bronze in downhill at the world 
championships at Chamonix in 1962; gold medal winner in downhill at 
the Olympic Games in Innsbruck in 1964.
