Customs Guard, armed body of officers in uniform who watch customs 
frontiers and border-crossing traffic; the customs officers take part 
in customs procedures and levy customs duties. It is the oldest guard 
body in Austria. Customs guards are posted at border control posts and 
at customs offices within the customs territory (e.g. at railway 
stations and airports).
