b. Vienna, Dec. 20, 1939, theologian. Studied philosophy and Catholic 
theology at the Universities of Innsbruck, Vienna, Konstanz and 
Munich; ordained priest in 1964; started as lecturer at Bamberg 
University; Professor at Passau University from 1974 to 1984; since 
1984 at Vienna University. Deals mainly with questions of the 
sociology of church and religion and on pastoral theology.
