l´Allemand, Sigmund, b. Vienna, Aug. 8, 1840, 
d. Vienna, Oct. 24, 1910, painter of battle scenes and portraits, 
nephew and pupil of Friedrich  l´Allemand; studied at the Vienna 
Academy under C. von  Blaas, later taught at the Academy; popular 
portrait painter of the imperial family, the higher nobility and 
generals; painted e.g. battle scenes from the Danish War (Vienna, 
Museum of Military History).
