| Theresienstadt Concentration Camp German Jewish Holocaust Survivor Inge Auerbacher speaks about her childhood, during the 2013 Federal Inter-Agency Holocaust Remembrance Day, in the Lincoln Theater, on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, Washington, D.C. Auerbacher recalled the forced turnover of the family business and home, her escape to another German town and eventual imprisonment in the Theresienstadt Concentration Camp, in August 1942. In 2009, she co-authored the book Children of Terror. Since the 1979 President’s Commission on the Holocaust, an annual proclamation signed by the President of the United States recognizes the importance of remembering the atrocities of the Holocaust that should never be forgotten or be ignored. She also showed her cloth badge that identified her as being Jewish, and talked about her child doll ‘Marlene’ that she was able to keep with her for several decades. The actual doll is on display in the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, the one shown is a replica of the doll, and Olympic doll that was sold during the 1936 Olympic games in Germany.
