The Gaslamp Quarter [{GoogleMap location='Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego, CA 92101' zoom='12'}] is a district of San Diego. The area is 38 acres (15 ha) big and is listed as an historic district on the National Register of Historic Places as Gaslamp Quarter Historic District. The Quarter extends from Broadway to Harbor Drive and from 4th to 6th Avenue and included 94 historic buildings, most of which were constructed in the Victorian Era. It got its name from the gas lamps that were common in San Diego in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
