Santa Barbara [{GoogleMap location='Santa Barbara, Kalifornien' zoom='8'}] is the count seat of Santa Barbara County, California. Situated on a south-facing section of coastline, the longest such section on the West Coast of the United States, Santa Barbara has an estimated population of 91,196 (as of 2014). The total area is 41,968 sq mi (108,697 sq km) from which 19,468 sq mi (50,422 sq km) are land.

The University of California [{GoogleMap location='34.4139629,-119.8511357' zoom='12'}], Santa Barbara is commonly referred to as UC Santa Barbara or UCSB. It is a public research university and one of the 10 campuses of the University of California system. Established in 1891 (as the Anna Blake school) the universities main campus is 1,022 acres (414 ha) big.
