It is the largest city in the Western North Carolina with a population of 83,393 (according to the 2010 U.S. Census). It covers an area of 45.3 sq mi (117.2 sq km).

Asheville Riverlink Labyrinth [{GoogleMap location='159 Riverside Dr, Asheville, NC 28801' zoom='14'}] is a medieval chartres style labyrinth with seven circles. Designed by Lisa Winston, the labyrinth is 57 feet big and was installed in October 2010.
