\\The Memorial Chorten [{GoogleMap location='Memorial Chorten, Chhoten Lam, Thimphu, Bhutan' zoom='17'}]
, or Thimphu Chorten, was built in 1974 to honour the 3rd King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. It is popularly known as "the most visible religious landmark in Bhutan", because of its shining golden spires. When the wind is blowing bells chime. A steady stream of elder people circle the chorten. In comparison to other chortens it does not enshrine the mortal remains of the King, only the King's photograph.
