5047 m hoch, überragt der Vulkan Kasbegi[{GoogleMap location='Mount Kazbek, Georgia' zoom='9'}] die einzigartige Landschaft, benannt nach dem georgischen Dichter Alexander Kasbegi, der die Gegend oftmals in seinen Romanen verewigte. In den vergletscherten Wänden des Berges musste schon Prometheus für seinen Frevel, den Menschen das Feuer gebracht zu haben, büßen.

With a height of 5047 metres, the volcano Kasbegi[{GoogleMap location='Mount Kazbek, Georgia' zoom='9'}] towers over the unique landscape. The volcano is named after the georgian poet Alexander Kasbegi, who often wrote about this area in his novels. In the glaciered walls of this mountain even Prometheus had to suffer for his sacrilege to bring fire to mankind.
