Von außen sieht man ihr es kaum an, aber die Kirche Sveti Sime beherbergt einen der größten Kunstschätze Kroatiens: den Sarkophag des hl. Simeon, bestehend aus 250 kg Gold und Silber. Stifterin des luxuriösen Schreins war die kroatisch-ungarische Königin Elisabeth, die damit den Heiligen anflehte, ihr einen Sohn und Thronfolger zu schicken. Übrigens: Geholfen hat es nicht.

From the outside you can hardly see it, but the church Sveti Sime houses one of the greatest art treasures of Croatia: the sarcophagus of St. Simeon, consisting of 250 kg of gold and silver. The founder of the luxurious shrine was the Croatian-Hungarian Queen Elisabeth, who begged the saints to send her a son and heir to the throne. By the way: it did not help.
