A half timbered house on Grande Ile (Big Island) in Strasbourg. Grande Ile is in the Ill River, which runs through Strasbourg. The entire island has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its buildings showing developing stages of architecture - beginning in the medieval period and working up to the classical period.

Besides Strasbourg Cathedral there are four other venerable churches, as well as the Palais Rohan, a former residence of the prince-bishops of the area.
