Note that the system of canals in Tolouse provides nice hiking and jogging trails along the canals that are lined by beautiful trees. 

Note also, that all boats (barges) have to be very low to be able to pass under the many bridges. 

Indeed, tourists standing up have to sometimes tuck their head if they don't want to loose it.
