Ein unbewohnter, felsiger Sporn namens Gramvousa bildet das nordwestliche Eck Kretas. Nur eine Schotterstraße führt an die Spitze der Halbinsel. Dort beginnt ein halbstündiger Treppenweg, der schließlich in der schönsten Bucht Kretas endet. Balos Gramvousa , Crete , d. h. Piratenbucht, ist ein Lagunenstrand wie aus der Südsee, dessen seichtes und glasklares Wasser in allen Türkistönen schimmert. Deshalb genießt man das kleine Naturwunder auch nicht alleine – aber der Ansturm hält sich aufgrund der etwas mühsamen Anreise noch in Grenzen.
An uninhabited, rocky spur called Gramvousa forms the northwestern corner of Crete. Only a gravel road leads to the top of the peninsula. There begins a half-hour stairway that finally ends in the most beautiful bay of Crete. Balos Gramvousa , Crete , meaning Bay of Pirates, is a lagoon and beach looking like the ones from the South Sea, whose shallow and crystal clear water shimmers in all shades of turquoise. That's why you do not enjoy the small natural wonder alone - but the onslaught is still limited due to the somewhat tedious journey.
