Picturesque is the abandoned monastery of the '99 holy fathers' nestled under a rock wall in the mountain village of Azogires[{GoogleMap location='Azogires, Crete' zoom='13'}]. The 99 Fathers were missionaries who came to Crete in the 12th century through Asia Minor and Cyprus, spent the rest of their lives there, and mysteriously died on the same day.
