Das im 11. Jahrhundert errichtete Gotteshaus ruht auf den Fundamenten eines römischen Vesta-Tempels. Das passt ganz gut, denn Vesta war die keusche Hüterin des heiligen Feuers, die Göttin von Heim und Herd.

Built in the 11th century, the church rests on the base of a Roman Vesta temple. That fits quite well, because Vesta was the chaste guardian of the sacred fire, the goddess of home and hearth.
