Bressay [{GoogleMap location='Bressay, Großbritannien und Nordirland' zoom='12'}] is one of the few inhabited islands of Shetland and lies between Mainland in the west, Noss in the east, Whalsay due north and Mousa, which is famous for its Broch, in the south. It is the fifth largest island, with a size of 28km² and a population of about 360 people. The inhabitants are concentrated in the middle of the west coast around Glebe, Fullaburn and Maryfield.\\
Because of its old red sandstone with basaltic intrusions, Bressay was quarried extensively for building materials which were used all over the island but especially in nearby Lerwick. Scattered around the island are a number of sea caves and arches, as well as eleven lochs.
