After moving to Salzburg. Anton Cajetan Adlgasser (1729 Niederachen/Inzell - 1777 Salzburg) studied with Johann Ernst Eberlin and later became not only his musical successor but also his son-in-law. The house he lived in still stands opposite Mozart's house in the Getreidegasse. He was also friends with W.A. Mozart, who served as a witness at his three successive weddings. The composition Schuldigkeit des Ersten Gebots linked him to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joh. E. Eberlin.

The musical example belongs to a series of works known as the five Regensburger symphonies. They were written after a trip to Italy in 1764/65, which explains their close imitation of the Italian opera symphony (E. Stadler)
