Kyrie fons bonitatis with 'ropus Divinitatis amator#
Codex 9 of the University Library in Graz was written in the first half of the 15th century and probably comes from the Cistercian monastery of Neuberg an der Muerz. The bottom voice of the Kyrie was taken from the chant but the newly-composed upper voice has been given a new text (Divinitatis amator) which is known as a trope. It is also possible to not only add a new text as here but to also expand the chant melodies. This was an obvious means of bringing secular music into the church. (E. Stadler)
