Abstract
EDEN (short for EDitor ENvironment) is a generic concept for object-oriented graphics editing. Particular graphics editing applications are built on top of a nucleus called the EDEN Kernel. This thesis describes the object-oriented design of the EDEN Kernel as a distributed system. The design is object-oriented so as to facilitate custom-tailoring and extension. A distributed system spreads processing load, increases efficiency and allows simultaneous editing.
