Labour Force, includes those who already have or are looking for an occupation for which they are paid in form of wages or salaries, and whose working hours surpass a certain minimum per week. That is to say all employed and self-employed persons as well as all unemployed. In Austria the labour force totals approximately 3,596,000 (micro census 1991). The labour force/resident population ratio is called the Employment Rate.
