Arisierung#

Aryanisation, National-Socialist term for the elimination of Jews from professional and economic life as well as the forced transfer of Jewish property to non-Jews. The randomly determined purchase price of the property was mostly deposited in blocked accounts which were then seized by the government in 1941. The Restitution Laws (Rueckstellungsgesetze) of 1946-1949 were an attempt to mitigate or reverse the consequences of Aryanisation in Austria.
