Prokop von Templin auch Procopius von Templin#
Prokop von Templin (also Procopius v. T.), b. 1608 Templin/Uckermark (Germany), d. Linz(Upper Austria) Nov. 22, 1680; preacher and writer of songs. Came from a Protestant family, 1627 joined the Capuchin order and left Mariazell as an itinerant preacher. From 1642 in Vienna, then in Linz and Passau, from 1663 in Salzburg. Famous for the songs he wrote in praise of the Virgin Mary ("Mariae Huelff EhrenKraentzel", 1642; "Der Gross-Wunderthaetigen Mutter Gottes Mariae Huelff Lob-Gesang", 1659). Over 2,000 of his simple sermons written for the people were put in print, some of his songs were adopted by A. von Arnim and C. Brentano in "Des Knaben Wunderhorn".
