Friedrich von Villach#
Friedrich von Villach; documentary evidence shows he lived in Villach (Carinthia) between 1415 and 1452, painter, father of the painter Johannes von Villach. Probably apprenticed in Brixen/Bressanone (South Tyrol), and became one of the leading fresco painters of the late "Soft Style" in Carinthia. Painted endearingly traditional frescoes and also a Passion cycle for the collegiate church at Millstatt (Carinthia, 1428). Works at Mariapfarr in Lungau (Salzburg, around 1430) and St. Leonhard near Tamsweg (Salzburg) are also attributed to him.
