Metals 2016,6, 286 (2) The characteristicmicrostructure of the in situAl2Si4O10/Al composites via SLM tended to transfer fromthe irregularnetworkstructure toanearlysphere-likenetworkstructure inregular formingbyincreasingthe laserpower. (3) Asahighlaserpowerwasemployed,ahighpeaktemperaturewasacquiredcorrespondingly, andtheresultant Marangoni convection was generated with a high velocity, favoring the sufficientdispersionof thereinforcementswithin themoltenpool. (4) Theformationmechanismof insituAl2Si4O10 andthedistributionevolutionof thereinforcement particles during the SLM processing of Al2O3/AlSi10Mg mixed powder were present. Formationof the insituAl2Si4O10phasecouldbeattributedto thereactionamongdissociative [Al], [O], and [Si] atoms, and thedistributionof reinforcementparticleswas speculated tobe influencedsignificantlybyMarangoniconvectionandtheviscosityof themoltenmaterial.
