112 michaEla schullEr-JuckEs The differences between this set of Bolognese works and the Graz manuscript lie primarily in the posture, demeanour, and physique of the figures – thus in aspects that were affected by the underdrawings. While the Graz work displays strikingly graceful protagonists, the comparative miniatures have broader, stockier statures. While the demeanour and postures of the Graz figures are elegant and dynamic, the others are stiff and cumbersome. It is not possible to say where the two northern Italians completed their work for the Graz manuscript. It may have been in South- ern France or indeed Italy, where the work was perhaps taken in its unfinished state.
