The results show that the alternative design, with a more diverging shape
downstream, generates a larger eddy that compresses the jet. This leads to
higher velocities and thus, less effective energy dissipation in the stilling basin.
However, it was concluded that the increased velocity was acceptable, and the
alternative design was approved.
