Jyotsna (Jo)Puri is currentlyDeputyExecutiveDirector andHeadofEvaluation
at theInternational InitiativeofImpactEvaluation(3ie). Jo isalsoadjunct facultyat
the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), Columbia University,
NewYork, where she teaches development evaluation. She is currently advising
IFAD, WFP and AGRA on impact evaluations of programmes related to food
security and nutrition. Jo leads 3ie sector based work on themes such as social
norms, agriculture, nutrition, community engagement and environment. Jo has
more than 18 years of experience in policy research and development evaluation.
Shehasundertakenand ledevaluation relatedwork forUNDP,UNICEF,GEFand
theMacArthurFoundation.Her researchhas focusedonanalyzingpoverty impacts
ofpolicyand infrastructure investments inAsiaandLatinAmerica.Herotherareas
ofwork include examining impacts of policies in the areas of environment, agri-
culture, health and climate change. As policy adviser at UNEP she has provided
thematic and strategic adviceonprogramdevelopment andengaginggovernments
at various levels for effective delivery of outcomes for equitable, growth transi-
tions.Sheis theleadauthorofabookonmeasuringandinterpretingmonitoringand
evaluation indicators prepared for the Human Development Report Office and
published byUNDP;Co-author of a book examining implications of Joint Imple-
mentation of Climate Change commitments for developing countries and led the
publication of a synthesis report on Forests in a Green Economy published by
UNEP. She sits on the board of Community of Evaluators, South Asia and the
HumanitarianCertification Initiative. Jo’s academic qualifications include aPh.D.
andM.Sc. inResourceEconomics and aMasters inDevelopmentEconomics.
Issa Sawadogo is animal and pasture scientist with a doctoral degree in
agropastorlism for the Museum National d’Histoire Naturelle, France. He is a
project officer at the International union for conservation of nature, program of
Burkina.Hisresearchworkfocusesonadaptationtoclimatechangemonitoringand
evaluation, pasturemanagement andbreeders’practices.
Tonya Schuetz has 15 years of experience in change and results-basedmanage-
ment,monitoringandevaluation,personnelandcapacitydevelopment:fiveyears in
the private sector focusing on process analysis and resource optimization, and ten
years in research for development projects and programs in over 20 countries in
Sub-Sahara Africa and Asia with substantial field experience on the project and
policy influencing level. She has worked across a range of sectors, including
agriculture, water, health and education for organizations like IFAD, CGIAR
CentersandResearchPrograms.Hercross-cuttingexperience includes institutional
analysis and assessment of their capacity, quality management, knowledge and
innovationmanagementwith hands-on skills in project/ programdesign,monitor-
ing and evaluation of research projects for outcomes and impact, institutional and
organizational learning, conceptualization of adult learning. Currently, sheworks
as an independent consultant with different CGIAR Research Programs, like
Climate Change Agriculture Food Security, on results-based management,
