The Presentation of the Habsburg Dynasty in Bosnia and Herzegovina 181 built – bear the formal and stylistic characteristics of historicism. In its old-fashioned massive and solid forms, a stability and durability of the Monarchy was symbolically suggested, the power of which rested in the conjunction of the dynasty, the army and the church. Upon the end of the war and the creation of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, which also included Bosnia and Herzegovina, a new political reality was to be constructed, that is, a new remembrance had to be created to suit the new identity and the idea of a unified Yugoslavianism. In such an environment, there was no more space for the monuments to the Habsburgs, so the People’s government passed an order about the removal of the signs of the old regime already in November 1918.89 During the period that followed, almost all monuments which reminded citizens of the Austro- Hungarian rule90 were removed, together with the monuments built to honour the Habsburgs. Only a few of them which were considered to have artistic value were pre- served and are today kept in the depot of the Art Gallery of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
