I., 1031/1032, fasc. 1031, fol. 492–494. 23 Mayor Hribar commissioned the portrait of Bishop Strossmayer in 1899. 24 In his biography which Germ provided for the Globe, the international magazine in 1937 he stated that he had given assistance to his teacher Brožík by preparing his monumental historical painting Tu felix Austria nube (Ljubljana, Historical Archive-Department for Dolenjska and Bela krajina, Novo mesto (SI ZAL NME), 184, Josip Germ). In 1895, Brožík was selected by the Emperor of Austria to paint this picture which should commemorate the foundation of the house of Habsburg-Lorraine which began with the marriage, here portrayed, of Maria Theresa to Francis of Lorraine in 1736. Today, this painting is kept at the Austrian Gallery Belvedere in Vienna (No. 2768a–b).
