Irena Veselá, musicologist and historian, wrote her university thesis on the music-dramatic works performed during the visit of the Emperor Charles VI. to the Czech territories in 1723. In 2004–2005 she took part in research work for the book about the coronation of Charles VI. in Prague in 1723. Between 2008 and 2016 she worked as a curator in the Music History Department of the Moravian Museum in Brno. Since September 2016 she has worked in the Music Department of the Moravian Library in Brno. Apart from publications on the music- dramatic works composed in 1723 for Charles VI., she has written texts on the musical culture of Moravian monasteries in the 18th century. Michael Yonan is Associate Professor of Art History at the University of Missouri, USA. He wrote his thesis on “Embodying the Empress-Widow. Maria Theresa and the Arts at Schönb- runn, 1765–1780.” He has published many studies of the arts in eighteenth-century Central and Northern Europe. These include “The Cultural Aesthetics of Eighteenth-Century Porce- lain” (2010) and “Empress Maria Theresa and the Politics of Habsburg Imperial Art” (2011). His book “Messerschmidt’s Character Heads. Maddening Sculpture and the Writing of Art History” is currently in press at Routledge.
