University Business School. He holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management and
Entrepreneurship from theUniversity ofWales, Aberystwyth.
He has received several awards both for his teaching and his research. In 2016,
he received the DurhamUniversity Business School Innovation in Teaching and
LearningAward and theDean’sAward for Teaching Excellence. In 2015, hewas
awarded by theDurhamUniversity Excellence for aDoctoral SupervisionAward.
In 2017, for his research, he was nominated for the Best Paper at the Family
Business track,BestConferencePaper at the ISBEannual conference and received
theHighlyCommendedPaperAward. In2015, hewas the recipient of theEmerald
Citation of Excellence Award for the most highly cited and influential paper
published in 2012 inBusinessManagement: “Drivers of innovation ambidexterity
in small-to-medium-sizedfirms”, published in theEuropeanManagement Journal,
30(1), 1–17. In 2020, hewas the jointwinner of theBest ReviewerAward for the
British Journal ofManagement.
His work has been published in a variety of journals, including the Strategic
Entrepreneurship Journal, the Journal of Product Innovation Management, the
Journal ofWorldBusiness, theBritish Journal ofManagement and the Journal of
Small BusinessManagement. He has served as a keynote speaker at international
conferences and is amember of the StrategicManagement Society and theAcad-
emy of Management. His research interests and specialisations include entrepre-
neurial orientation, innovation and ambidexterity, social capital, absorptive
capacity, corporate entrepreneurship and strategy, familyfirms, internationalisation
and business acceleration. In addition, he sits on the editorial review boards of
several journals, including the Journal of Management Studies, the Journal of
Business Venturing, the British Journal of Management and the New England
JournalofEntrepreneurship. He is alsoaneditorof theEntrepreneurshipResearch
Journal andAssociate Editor of the Journal of Family Business Strategy.
Outsideacademia, he is ahusbandand father andenjoysplayingbasketballwith
his son, listening tomusic, watching documentaries andwalking.
Dr. Lutz Göcke is a professor in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship at the
University of Applied Sciences inNordhausen, Germany. He holds a doctorate in
StrategicManagementandEconomics fromtheTechnicalUniversityClausthal.His
research focuses on Business Model Innovation and Corporate Entrepreneur-
ship. He is the initiator and the director of the Bachelor ProgramDigital Product
Management, aswell as the head of the academic incubation programmeHIKE at
theUniversity of Applied Sciences, Nordhausen.
Early in his career, heworked as a digital productmanager and intrapreneur in
the Volkswagen Group on various digital projects, such as the Open Innovation
Platform, Carsharing, Connected Car and Digital Ecosystem Volkswagen WE.
After leavingVolkswagen, he founded SWANventures. StillWithout aName, or
SWAN, illustrates his fascination for the lean start-up approach in building busi-
nesses. The company focuses on management consulting in the corporate
entrepreneurshipdomain.He is a lecturer at theTechnicalUniversityClausthal and
