Chapter 2 Mathematical Modeling and Simulation of Nonlinear Process in Enzyme Kinetics Lakshmanan Rajendran, Mohan Chitra Devi, Carlos Fernandez and Qiuming Peng Additional information is available at the end of the chapter http://dx.doi.org/10.5772/intechopen.70914 Provisionalchapter MathematicalModeli gandSimulationofNonlinear Process inEnzymeKinetics L kshmananRajendran,MohanChitraDevi, CarlosFernandezandQiumingPeng Additional information isavailableat theendof thechapter Abstract Adeepandanalyticalunderstandingof theenzymekineticshasattractedagreatattention of scientists from biology, medicine, chemistry, and pharmacy.Mathematical models of enzymekineticsoffer several advances for thisdeepandanalyticalunderstandingdue to their incompensablepotential inpredictingkineticprocessesandanticipatingappropriate interventionswhen required. This chapter concernsmathematicalmodelinganalysis and simulation of enzyme kinetics. Experimental data and available knowledge on enzyme mechanics are used in constituting amathematicalmodel. Themodels are either in the formof linearornonlinearordinarydifferentialequationsorpartialdifferentialequations. Theseequationsare composedofkineticparameters suchaskinetic rate constants, initial rates, andconcentrationsof enzymes. Thenonlinearnatureof enzymatic reactions anda largenumberofparametershave causedmajor issueswith regard toefficient simulation of those reactions. In thiswork, anenzymatic systemthat includesMichaelis-Mentenand PingPongkinetics ismodeled in the formof differential equations. These equations are solvednumerically inwhich the systemparameters are estimated.Thenumerical results arecomparedwith theresults fromanexistingworkin literature.
