The current nanoplatforms used for the purpose of targeting drug delivery to cancer tissues can also be addressed to selectively deliver imaging agents (Chen, 2014). For example, the first evaluation of the effectiveness of a particular formulation to a patient can be performed with imaging agents, in order to verify that the delivery system will primarily target the cancerous tissues, even before any drug regimen test is initiated (Toy, 2014).
