If there is no measurement history, we consider that the BOD5 = COD * 80%
• We label the bottle, place a clean magnetic stirrer in the BOD5 bottle, we fill the
rubber black seal with 3-4 drops of KOH solution and place it on the vial, then, we check
the temperature of the sample (20 ° C) and place the BOD bottle on the support and check
that the agitation is running. We note the position of the sample in the device and lastly,
the device is activated (see, picture 5).

- Determination of the chemical oxygen demand (COD): The preparation of White with
10 ml of distilled water that are mixed with 5 ml of potassium dichromate and 15 ml of
sulfuric acid / silver sulphate solution. We duplicate the white when possible. We prepare
a reference solution of 10 ml of reference daughter solution that are mixed with 5 ml of
potassium dichromate and 15 ml of sulfuric acid / silver sulphate solution. We refer
daughter solution 100mg O2 / L: (mother solution diluted 10 times), we stock solution
(1000 mgO2 / L, blue): 2.5 ml and finally, we complete to 25ml by distilled water in a
25ml jar.
We prepare a 10 ml sample to be analyzed which is mixed with 5 ml of potassium
dichromate and 15 ml of sulfuric acid / silver sulphate solution. The sample is duplicated
