Figure1. Norwaypopulationprojections [3] At the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), a current project on welfare technology is beingdeveloped tohelp theolder people to remain at home for as longas theywish[8,9].Themainfocusof theresearchisonhumanbehaviourmodelling(HBM) to ensure the older person lives in safe and digniïŹed conditions. TheHBM’s goal is to detect anomalieson theperson’sbehaviourpatternandassist if needed. As part of the same project atUSN, the healthcare aspects and older people’s per- ceptionofwelfare technologyare alsobeing researched [10].Thecontributionbetween the twoareas - technical andhealthcare -has shown that regardlessof theamountof re- search inwelfare technologyforolderpeople, breachesarestill found.Thereare limited studies addressing this topic [11].Therefore, this articlepresents ananalysisof thegaps between the technology andhealthcare aspectswhen implementingwelfare technology for theageing. This study’smain contribution is towardshelping future researchers to connect and consider both sides - the technologyandhealthcare -whendevelopingwelfare technol- ogy forolderpeople. 1.1. Aim Thestudyaim is todiscuss theconnectionsandgapsbetweenthe technologyandhealth- careïŹeldswhendevelopingwelfare technology forolderpeople. The remainder of this article is presented as follows: Section two introduces the backgroundandreviews therelatedwork.Section threedescribes themethodology.Sec- tion four deïŹnes the terminology generally used inwelfare technology for the ageing. SectionïŹvepresents theanalysis results.Sectionsixprovidesrecommendations.Finally, theconclusionsaregiven in sectionseven.
