Abstract.Theuseofconnectedhealthsolutionsinthediagnosisandthemonitoring
ofmental health issues is a promising ïŹeld. However, in order for the connected
mental health solutions to be effective, accurate data about the patientâs mental
and physical state is required. Sensors can therefore be very helpful instruments
to provide patientâs data needed for a good diagnosis andmonitoring. This paper
conducts a literature survey to present the current research involving connected
health solutions using sensors in the treatment ofmental health. Seventeenpapers
are selected following a search protocol and analyzed to present the publication
trend of research on sensors used formental health and to identify their research
typesandcontribution types.Thisstudymayassist researchers interested in theuse
of sensors formental health care, as it can serve as a starting point presenting an
overviewof theaddressedtopicsandtheweakareasof theresearch.Thestudymay
also assist patients andclinicians interested in theïŹeld tohave anoverviewof the
proposedsolutionsandusesof sensors inmentalhealthcare.

communicationbetween thepatient and theclinician [5].
Connected mental health or e-mental health is an aspect of healthcare that intro-
duces theuseof InformationandCommunicationTechnologies (ICT) solutions inmen-
tal healthcare. Connected health services contribute to the improvement of themental
healthcare domain by helping in the diagnosis and detection ofmental illnesses [6] as
well as themonitoringofpeople inproblematic situations [7].Connectedmental health
